We are currently recruiting for a manufacturer that specialise in anti-vandal, portable and modular office, and welfare accommodation. Our client is UK based and privately owned. Their purpose is to design facilities that will provide their clients with new or replacement spaces including site accommodation, welfare facilities, as well as small to large open plan office facilities across the UK.

They are looking for a Head of Technical to be office based in Skelmersdale. This is a new role that is required because of their continued growth and 5-year strategy as well as the desire for continued product improvement and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Creating, leading, and directing a team of technical designers, CAD /Revit operators and estimator across a relatively flat structure.
• Participate in and lead as required technical development assignments in the organisation to ensure seamless integration of technical solutions into our product portfolio with a view to assuring commercial viability.
• Identification, assessment, and selection of strategic design and technical assignments to contribute to the development of our high-quality solutions.
• Actively support the work winning activities of the business through the delivery of feasibility designs for inclusion within external offer.
• Create and maintain an external network of client, supplier stakeholders and relevant Trade Associations (MBPA, FPA) to support the growth and innovation activities of the business.
• Actively participate in the co-development of technical solutions with our sister company and their technical team, prioritising innovation, and efficiency.
• Oversee the correct implementation of technical solutions, ensuring they meet set quality standards (ISO) and client expectations as well as promoting the brand to represent an industry leading, innovative product / solution-based manufacturer.
• Co ownership of ISO accreditation (with SHEQ Manager) and audit processes ensuring both statutory requirements and business growth opportunities are effectively identified, communicated, and targeted.
• Work on the standardisation of technical installation solutions to promote efficiency, scalability, and repeatability in our projects.
• Explore new technologies and methods to continually improve the development of our modular construction solutions and ancillary products.
• Instigate and embed an estimating function considering design generation, BoM accuracy and functionality with a view to providing commercial viability and function to assist in the work winning process.
• Work closely with the commercial functions across the business to ensure technical is geared to support strategic growth into targeted client portfolio / sectors.

Key Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, in a technical field, such as Engineering, Construction, Architecture or similar.
• Proven Quality Assurance & BoM Control / Estimation experience.
• Awareness of MEP systems Proven experience in technical project management and strong leadership experience with leading multi-disciplinary teams.
• Understanding and proven experience of internal stakeholder engagement and work winning activity.
• Proven track record in implementing improvement measures to enhance the performance and effectiveness of a technical department.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills.
• Ability to translate technical concepts into practical commercial solutions.
• Experience in the implementation and management of ISO and associated certification standards.

• £65K-£75K but negotiable for the right person
