Are you a Regional Sales Manager looking for your next step? Or are you a National Sales Manager looking for your next role?
We’re currently recruiting for one of the UK’s leading suppliers of the finest handmade, wire cut and pressed bricks specialising in regional variations.
They’re looking to hire a National Sales Manager, who will be responsible for driving sales growth and expanding market share across the UK. An understanding of the construction and building materials industry, particularly bricks and related products would be beneficial. However, this is a leadership role, and the ideal candidate will be someone who can brings, or develop, the leadership skills needed to create a higher performance sales team.
The National Sales Manager role requires the skills to:
- Set and implement sales strategy aligned with the company’s objectives.
- Lead, manage and motivate a nationwide team of Area Sales Managers who sell into Builders Merchants.
- Support the development and maintenance of relationships with key customers.
- Communicate clearly and develop professional relationships with the MD and senior managers.
- formulate and execute a comprehensive national sales strategy with Builders Merchants, Developers and Self Builders in line with Imperial Bricks’ strategy, goals and objectives.
- Analyse market trends, competitor activity, and customer preferences to identify growth opportunities.
- Set annual, quarterly, and monthly sales targets for the team and ensure they are met or exceeded.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the Area Manager team to maximise sales revenue.
- Demonstrate an understanding of key leadership skills i.e. situational leadership, leadership styles and operational frameworks.
- Implement a coaching programme for each individual Area Manager that features a combination of coaching plans and field visits.
- Integrate with the coaching regular one to one meeting that provide the opportunity to review performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and identify development needs.
- Implement an effective recruitment strategy that includes a structured and objective approach to interviewing new members of the ASM team, through personal and industry contacts identify ‘potential’ candidates in each sales area who could be approached should an area become vacant.
- Conduct appraisals performance providing constructive feedback and professional development opportunities.
- Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to promote the company.
- Develop and mange the national sales budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
- Monitor sales performance across regions, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular sales reports for the managing director, including analysis of key metrics, forecasts, and challenges.
- Stay informed about the company’s product offerings, features and benefits, ensuring the team is well-versed in product knowledge.
- Work closely with marketing to develop promotional materials, sales campaigns, and other initiatives that drive brand awareness.
Skills:
Qualifications: Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive sales experience, preferably with at least 1 years in a sales leadership role.
- Leadership: Proven experience in managing and motivating geographically dispersed sales teams who work on a peripatetic basis.
- Industry Knowledge: An understanding of the construction sector, particularly brick manufacturing, distribution, and usage would be beneficial, but not a ‘must have’.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret sales data and market trends to drive decision-making.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present effectively at all levels.
- Customer-Focused: Ability to build long-term relationships with customers and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
- Education: Preferably a degree but minimum A-level standard.
