We’re currently recruiting for an independent Builders Merchants founded in 1975 with branches in both Skipton and Barnoldswick. We are seeking an experienced and driven Timber Development Manager to lead their Timber, Timber Importing & joinery divisions at their busy builders’ merchants. They are looking for a Timber Development Manager to be based in Skipton and Barnoldswick (if necessary).
Package:
- Negotiable base salary for the right person with the right experience.

- Alternate Saturdays 09:00 – 12:00
Key responsibilities:
- Working alongside the Sales Manager, maintain and build new relationships with key customers, suppliers and stakeholders to maximise sales and profitability.
- Identify new business opportunities and markets for growth in the timber, importing, joinery and increasingly the renewables sector.
- Customer Service:
- Ensure a high level of service is delivered consistently.
- Address and resolve customer queries and complaints efficiently.
- Team Leadership:
- Support, develop and mentor respective departmental teams.
- Product Management:
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the latest products and technologies in timber, importing, joinery and renewables.
- Manage inventory levels and conduct regular stock checks to ensure product availability while minimising excess stock.
- Operational Efficiency:
- You are primarily responsible for the daily smooth and safe operations of the above departments and its employees.
- Always ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.
Key Skills:
- This role demands significant experience in timber sales to the construction industry with a minimum of 10 years experience.
- Must have experience in managing a sales team.
- Show demonstrable success in increasing sales.
- Have a proactive approach to Health & Safety.
- Evidence of any job-related training.
- Previous experience working with an ERP system.
- IT skills including word & excel
