30 reasons why we love recruitment
As we turn 30 this year we want to give you an insight to our thoughts and feelings on recruitment. We love what we do, it might come as a surprise to you, that even with the ups and downs that recruitment brings we wouldn’t change what we do.
Gareth
- I enjoy working with a variety of roles, NO two roles are ever the same.
- Having an ability to really help people find the role they really want.
- The good feeling from being given a new role or job offer
- The relationships you make with candidates and clients
- Working with Jen, Jo, Brogan, and the freelance consultants, this is a close-knit team, maybe sometimes we are too close knit, but we all come together and complement each other’s skills.
- I have a love hate relationship with recruitment and I regularly go through phases of loving it and hating it, but that always leads back to this is role I was meant to do.
- The people we recruit for, there are too many to mention and some people who have left our industry too.
- I love that 20 years in recruitment has made me a more empathetic person and has massively improved my self-confidence.
Jo
- No two days are ever the same, working on a variety of roles and speaking to different people every day.
- Seeing candidates who we have placed progress through their career, even coming full circle and then contacting us to help with their recruitment needs when they are hiring a team (this has happened to me today)
- Working with amazing people, both candidates and clients, over the years who I can now call personal friends 😊
- That feeling you get when you place a candidate in their “dream” job, and when you know you have been a part of making a huge difference in someone career and life.
- The earning potential is a benefit – yes, we do it because we love it, but also to make a living
- Flexibility of recruitment – although I hate working from home, and much prefer the office environment, recruitment does offer flexibility. Some clients will ask “but you are based in the north, how can you find someone for us in London>?”, and Jeff used to say “we can be based on the moon” as the process is the same regardless of where we are or where the role is based.
- Networking – me and Jen do love an exhibition, client meeting and getting out there to meet people face to face and learn about the industry.
- Succeeding where another recruiter has failed
Jen
- Making a genuine difference to someone’s career and family
- Being part of a business’s growth with successful placements
- Being part of a hard-working team who are like a well-oiled machine we all know each other’s strengths and weaknesses and use these to achieve our overall goal. No individuals it is a team
- Relationships which have been built over the years, clients & candidates I love checking in with and catching up
- Meeting new people at exhibitions and BMF awards
- Making that job offer to the candidate who has secured their dream role
- Seeing a candidate you have placed thriving within the company and gaining promotions.
Brogan
- The people. Hands down it will always come down to the people, 90% of those we speak to are so friendly and will listen to us regardless of whether they want a job. We’re never really have to deal with negativity.
- Every day is different; every role is different. The variety keeps it interesting
- Working alongside such a close team we all get on and work extremely hard together
- Hearing how excited someone is when we give them a job offer. Knowing that we’ve helped them find a role means we’ve helped them find financial stability or take the next step in their career.
- Celebrating everyone else’s success is very rewarding, there’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of a successful placement. Seeing them do well in their role or hearing a client tell us how great the candidate we placed is doing, reminds us why we do what we do.
- The pride that we get when we get a phone call/LinkedIn message/email saying “You’ve been recommended by X” is great.
- The competitor inside me LOVES it when we find a candidate after a different consultancy can’t find the right person
