As we’ve turned 30, we wanted to share with you all what our 30th birthday means to us. Over these 3 decades, we’ve seen clients, candidates and staff come and go. But one thing that hasn’t changed is the pride each team member carries.
Here’s what each member of our team has to say:
Gareth: Pride that my family’s business has grown and developed to be one of the go-to recruiters in the Building Materials sector. It has not been without its challenges, from the credit crunch to the coronavirus pandemic to other external factors affecting the recruitment business, whether that be job boards, LinkedIn, or Internal Recruitment teams. 30 years show that the role we play is to find the best candidates for our clients, and vice versa. I’m like my Dad, Jeff liked to prove people wrong, it is one of my biggest motivators so 30 years is also two fingers up at a consultant who told Jeff at Interbuild back in 1996 that we would be lucky to see longer than a year.
Not only is reaching 30 years of operating a huge milestone, but we know how much it’ll mean to Gareth. We know his dad, Jeff – our founder, would be extremely proud of all the hard work, hours and perseverance that have been put into making Sharples Davies who we are.
Jo: Seeing Sharples Davies turn 30 is something that makes me immensely proud—especially having been part of the journey for the last 21 years.
From Jeff setting up the business in 1996, to a small team working out of a back bedroom in Adlington, to where we are today, three decades later, one of the most successful recruitment consultancies in our sector, with a fantastic office, great meeting spaces, and an incredible team.
Watching that growth first-hand has been amazing, and it’s a real privilege to have been part of it.
Jo, being the longest-standing member of the team, has shown an incredible amount of dedication to the growth of Sharples Davies
Jen: Sharples Davies turning 30 to me is a celebration of everything we have accomplished. From the business being formed by Jeff working alone doing all recruitment via fax and post to Gareth and Jo joining, and then me 8 years later (thankfully we now with the help of phones and internet!). We started off with us working in a back bedroom in Jeff’s house to now being in our offices in Chorley and we have our lovely Brogan now part of the team. I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved between us, the relationships we have built and excited for the successes to come.
Brogan: Even though I’ve only been with Sharples Davies for 2 years I’m extremely excited that we’re officially 30. The growth we’ve had over the past 2 years has been nothing short of amazing.
I’m proud to be apart of such a successful consultancy. Not many recruitment consultancies can say they’ve been operating for this long and staying consistent with their success and growth.
As a team, we are extremely grateful to all the clients that give us the opportunities to prove ourselves and we’ll be forever thankful to all the candidates that use us and that go that extra mile for their interview prep.
